We should first separate nudity and sex as you have implied; far too many people find it hard to separate the two, but they are not inseparably linked. Naturists (or nudists as Americans seem to prefer to call us) successfully separate the two and there is absolutely no harm to children from being exposed to nudity - quite the opposite in fact. Children revel in their own nudity because of the freedom it provides, they are also not at all bothered by other people's nudity unless they have been taught to be so. Children don't associate nudity with sex because they haven't been taught to.

Sex is a different issue. Children have a natural curiosity about where they came from, but it doesn't need the full details to be explained straight away and it is better to leave those for when the child has the emotional maturity to deal with them. As we all know, sex carries responsibilities and consequences, and a person has to be ready to deal with those, so confronting a child with explicit sexual material too soon carries dangers that we need to be mindful of.

I would say that violence is worse, which is why I have never been able to understand the 'logic' applied to the treatment of sex and violence in society. Violence is an undesirable activity which is always harmful and really should have no place in a civilised society. Sex is, or at least should be, an act of love and is a very necessary part of the continuation of the species. I know which I prefer!

But we are not even talking about sex here, we are talking about simple nudity. Why can we not celebrate the beauty of the natural human form as freely as we seem to be able to wallow in the depravity of violence? I don't have the answer, it puzzles me as much as it obviously does you. Perhaps it comes down to some people's inability to separate nudity from sex. It's just a pity that their view appears to dominate.

I agree with you. We are far too desensitized to violence and far too sensitive about nudity and sex. It varies by culture. We had a German exchange student with us for a while and she was absolutely mortified at the level of violence and gore we watched on American TV. On the other hand, we had a French exchange student with us for a while when I was a kid, and within days she was out sunbathing in the nude in our back yard until my mother found out and went absolutely nuts. The student thought my mother was some sort of crazy woman.

People should be more repelled by the commercialization of violence, and should more responsibly accept the human form and sexuality.

Beading, making necklaces and bracelets, is always a hit. Girls want to make things for themselves and the boys will want to make something for their mothers.

This first site offers inexpensive kits with everything you need to complete the project ( except glue). The second site offers craft ideas for children, broken down by age groups.

For small kids, have them make necklaces out of Fruit Loop cereal, similar to a candy necklace. The first link is to a project tutorial for this craft.

Or, another idea is to make pencil cup holders out of empty toilet paper rolls. The second link gives step by step instructions.

For older kids they could make flower pot pens, which their parents would LOVE as a gift, and they are so easy to do. Check out the third link for that.

Good luck!

How about using a Polaroid or digital camera and let them decorate a photo frame to put the picture in? Kids LOVE to work with their own photos.
There are also inexpensive bead/necklace/bracelet/anklet crafts, and various paint and/or glue projects -- but alot would depend on the kids' ages, how much budget and help you would have, and how much time is available. Do you want multiple craft stations? Different age levels? Parent assistance? When is the company party and where (indoors or outdoors)? Knowing what business the company is in would also give some ideas.
Email me with some of these details and I should be able to give more suggestions.

I remember I used to love art class. We would make the most creative things and I loved them. Here are some of my favorites:
*Pinch Pots. We had clay and molded the shape of a ball. We pinched our thumb in the middle and molded it untill it was the shape of a bowl. After it dried, the next week we would paint it and get it back on the third week.
*Collage. We got a bunch of magazines and cut out things we liked. We glued them on the page and the page would be filled!
I suggest getting the "Do it yourself craft book" written by Anna Burgess. It has like 100 different fun crafts to do. Here are some:
A seedy can-
Ask the students to each bring an empty can.You cut paper and glue the paper to the can covering it. Glue kinds of seeds and shells to the cup and let it dry. You will have a cup to hold pens and pencils!
And we made place mats! We would have one long string of one color. There would be this tray thing with edges on it. We would wrap it around. the carboard untill on one side it equaled 13 strings. Next we had a long needle with one color We went under the string, over the string, under the string, ect in a pattern untill the piece of another color thread ran out. then we just started in the placce we left off with another color. After your done some of it. push it to one side. It should get smaller. At the very end, you cut the strings on the other side and you will have a place mat.
Look up paper mache on google. It's interesting.
Good luck!

Absolutely anything my kids bring home from school I thoroughly enjoy, and feel them to be priceless.

I've saved nearly everything I could that my kids have brought home from school. I even have things that my oldest son did in elementary school, and he'll be 29 in November.

Not all parents are like me of course. Some just take things for granted, but for me, anything that my kids do is priceless, and I'll do my best to preserve it for them to pass down to their kids and grand kids.

Life is too precious to take for granted.
